1
How old are you?
Illinois uses different rules for drivers under 21
Under-21 rules (§1040.29): Offenses are reviewed within a 24-month window (not 12 months like adults). Prior suspensions from the last 7 years are counted. Suspensions tend to be longer compared to adult thresholds.
Adult rules (§1040.20): Points are tracked across your full driving record. If you receive 3 or more offenses within any 12-month period, you may face a separate discretionary review under §1040.30 — even if your total points are below the normal threshold.
2
Prior suspensions or revocations?
In the last 7 years (under-21) or on your full record (adults)
Active financial/safety responsibility suspension?
An active suspension under IVC §§7-205, 7-208, 7-304, or 7-305
