How old are you?
Illinois uses different rules for drivers under 21
Under-21 rules (§1040.29): A suspension requires at least 2 point-assigned convictions within a 24-month window. A single conviction, no matter how many points, does not trigger a suspension under §1040.29. Prior suspensions from the last 7 years affect the length of any new suspension.
Adult rules (§1040.20 / §1040.30): A suspension requires at least 3 point-assigned convictions. Points from those convictions are then totaled to determine the suspension length. Having 3 or more offenses within any 12-month period may also trigger a separate discretionary review under §1040.30.
